Who we are

The SOCI Brief ("we", "us") publishes a weekly cybersecurity intelligence digest for Australian critical infrastructure professionals. This policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it.

What we collect

When you subscribe, we collect your email address. If you contact us, we collect the information you choose to provide. We do not ask for sensitive personal information.

Email delivery and engagement metrics such as opens, clicks and subscription status may be collected through our email service provider to help us improve the newsletter and manage subscriptions.

How we use it

Your email address is used solely to deliver the newsletter and occasional related updates. We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing.

Service providers

We use Beehiiv to manage subscriptions and deliver email. We use Vercel to host this site. We use Vercel Analytics to collect aggregated website usage information such as page views, referring sites and general device information — this information does not identify individual visitors. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other jurisdictions.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie: a session cookie used solely to authenticate the site administrator. It is strictly necessary for the admin area to function and is never set for regular visitors. No tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies are used. You do not need to consent to any cookie to use this site.

Unsubscribing

Every edition includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time, and we remove your address promptly on request.

Data security & retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached your privacy obligations, please contact us. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
